The Forbidden City

We crossed the street to the Forbidden City. It was a real thrill. The history and culture was unbelievable. The ritual and symbolic things are so incredible. The ancient city itself was incredibly huge and complex. I never expected it to be so massive. The Emperor sure lived like a king :-).

Our guide Nelson has been great. We got lots of amazing stories that leave you totally bewildered by today's standards. Why can't I have 3000 concubines????

The architecture and design was impressive too.

From there we had lunch and it was great. Lots of food. The staff were amused by our use of chop sticks. We're such experts.

After lunch we went to the Emperor's summer palace. It was beautiful. A lot of people for sure.

God it's hot about 28 degrees and smoggy!!
