We went to a silk factory and saw how the farm silk. It's crazy. One worm spins out a single thread over 2km long. If two worms pair up ( and sometimes they are not compatible and won't pair up.... Like people) the each spit out a thread but it's braided. This is the stuff they make bullet proof vests and parachutes from... It so dense.
They took a cocoon from a paired seton worms and pulled it over a metal frame. It was very stretchy but you could not poke your finger through it. It was pretty neat.
Needless to say they then tried sell us silk comforters and Covers. They were beautiful but we didn't bite. We went upstairs and looked at scarfs and stuff. We did buy a few cheap souvenirs.
