One of the most incredible days of lives. Tried to get to Bataling (a section of the Great Wall) Taxi was expensive and tough to time our needs. Tour buses and groups were needlessly expensive and you only got a couple of hours. Mostly designed tourists..... Like us. So what to do.... What would locals do?
Take a taxi to the bus station and pay an outrageous $2 for a one hour bus ride. Sounds easy.... Try it where no one speaks your language and opportunists try to take advantage of you. We did it though.
To set the record straight we hiked the entire west and entire east side of Bataling. Took most of the day, end to end. Unbelievably spectacular. I was so excited to be there I could hardly contain myself.
